Gary Taxali
Artist Bio
Gary Taxali was born in Chandigarh, India in 1968 and raised in Toronto, Canada. In 1991, Taxali graduated from The Ontario College of Art and immediately began working as a professional illustrator. He continues to devote time lecturing and teaching illustration at art schools such as Sheridan College and The Ontario College of Art and Design. Taxali is a founding member of IPA (Illustrators' Partnership of America) as well as the co-founder of Picture Mechanics, a creative consortium comprised of the top 40 illustrators in the industry. Taxali shows his work in galleries in Barcelona, Los Angeles, New York, Portland, London and more. In 2011, two books showcasing his work were released: Mono Taxali, published by 279 Editions, and I Love You, OK?, published by teNeues. In 2012, The Royal Canadian Mint released a special edition of six Gary Taxali 25¢ coins which feature his artwork and typography. His work has been exhibited in museums such as the Whitney Museum of American Art in New York and the Contemporary Art Museum in Rome.
